The Magnitude of the Problem:

1. 100% of people are created by God as sexual beings
2. 5% of Americans can be classified as addicted to sex
3. 80% of sex addicts experience co-occurring addictions such as substance abuse, eating disorders, and gambling.
4. 47% of those dealing with unwanted sexual behavior did not have someone they could talk to when something difficult happened in childhood.
6. 5-8% of those dealing with unwanted sexual behavior had genuinely helpful conversations with their parent about sex
7. Most sex addicts experience lower feelings of self worth during the experience of sex addiction, often resulting in loss of self esteem.
8. Sex addicts find it hard to hold intimate relationships due to feelings of shame and guilt. They often are afraid of rejection and judgment.
9. Sex addicts often feel like they are living two separate lives. They feel guilty having close relationships, because they feel as if they are lying to the ones they love.
10. According to the National Council on Sexual Addiction and Compulsivity, 58% of people dealing with sexual addiction take part in illegal sexual behavior
11. Average age of first intercourse for boys and girls is 16 yrs old

Pornography

1. The average age of first porn exposure is 8 yrs old
2. 93.2% of boys and 62.1% of girls have seen online pornography before age 18
3. 80% of girls aged 16-20 had watched pornography
4. 41% of Males (Practicing Christians) and 13% of Females (Practicing Christians) ages 13-24 are actively seeking porn at least once or twice a month
5. 50% of those dealing with unwanted sexual behavior had a peer introduce them to pornography
6. 32% of those dealing with unwanted sexual behavior had someone older introduce them to pornography
7. 34% of internet users have experienced unwanted exposure to pornographic content through ads, pop up ads, misdirected links or emails.
8. 64% of 13-24 year-olds intentionally watch pornography at least once a week
9. Porn will nearly double the probability of couple's getting divorced
10. Pornography use increases the marital infidelity rate by more than 300%.
11. 56% of American divorces involve one party having an “obsessive interest” in pornographic website
12. 35% of internet downloads are porn-related
13. Porn sites receive more monthly traffic than Netflix, Amazon and Twitter combined.
14. 57% of pastors and 64% of youth pastors struggle or have struggled with pornography
15. 33 percent of women watch pornographic videos or view explicit photos at least one time per week
16. 62% of children by the time they are teens will have received a sext; 41% will have sent one

Infidelity & Prostitution

1. 22% of married men and 14% of married women have committed an adulterous act at least once in their married life
2. Infidelity is becoming more common among people under 30
3. The fastest growing rate of infidelity is among young married women
4. Among ever-married adults ages 18 to 29, women are as likely or slightly more likely than men to be guilty of infidelity. After 30 men are more likely
5. Infidelity for both men and women increases during the middle ages; Women report the highest rate of infidelity in their 60s and men in their 70s.
6. 36% of those who had an affair admit to having an affair with a co-worker
7. 17% of men and women who admit to infidelity (emotional or physical) with a brother-in-law or sister-in-law.
8. 17% of all the divorces that occur are due to adultery on the part of either or both the parties
9. Among ever-married adults who have cheated on their spouses before, 40% are currently divorced or separated. By comparison, only 17% of adults who were faithful to their spouse are no longer married.
9. Only about half of “cheaters” are currently married, compared with 76% of those who did not cheat.
10. 85% of the women are right when they think their partner is cheating on them while for men it is around 50%
11. 2% to 3% of all children are due to infidelity
12. 70% of married women and 54% men did not know of their spouses’ extramarital activity
13. 75% of men who admit to an affair also admit to having more than one affair, and 31% admit to having more than 5 different affairs.
14. 14% of men 18-75 reported paying for sex in their lifetime
15. 80% of prostitutes are girls and women; the average age for entry in to the sex trade is 14.

Abuse & Assault

1. 81% of women and 43% of men reported experiencing some form of sexual harassment and/or assault in their lifetime
2. Exposing a young child to pornography is a form of sexual abuse.
3. One in 9 girls and 1 in 53 boys under the age of 18 experience sexual abuse or assault at the hands of an adult.
4. 82% of all victims under 18 are female.
5. Females ages 16-19 are 4 times more likely than the general population to be victims of rape, attempted rape, or sexual assault
6. 1 out of every 6 American women has been the victim of an attempted or completed rape in her lifetime (14.8% completed, 2.8% attempted).
7. About half (51.1%) of female victims of rape reported being raped by an intimate partner and 40.8% by an acquaintance
8. About 3% of American men—or 1 in 33—have experienced an attempted or completed rape in their lifetime
9. Over half (52.4%) of male victims report being raped by someone known to to them (family member, trusted acquaintance) and 15.1% by a stranger
10. Ages 12-34 are the highest risk years for rape and sexual assault
11. 25% of men in the U.S. experienced some form of contact sexual violence in their lifetime.
12. On average, it takes 25 years for a man to finally acknowledge his sexual abuse
